Project Description: The "2024 Grand Challenges Africa Meeting" is by invitation only working meeting with 2 programmatic tracks and will be co-hosted by the Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania in partnership with Grand Challenges Africa. The malaria track will center on the intersection of traditional practices, research innovations, and effective policy development towards achieving malaria control and elimination. The malaria track will center on the intersection of traditional practices, research innovations, and effective policy development towards achieving malaria control and elimination. The Global Partnerships and Grand Challenges (GPGC) track will convene partners to continue discussion on best ways to strengthen Africa's R&D and innovation ecoystem. Malaria Track: Innovate, Engage and Eliminate Participants for the Malaria Track will engage in four focused sessions deployed to addressing: 1) Vect Control; 2) Clinical Trials, 3) Impact Evaluation and Policy Translation, and 4) Malaria Elimination. The participants will have real-life experiences by visiting various malaria research facilities, in malaria endemic communities in Tanzania as well as hold discussions with key stakeholders, malaria experts and government officials. Global Partnership & Grand Challenges Track: The Global Partnerships and Grand Challenges track will engage scientific and strategic thought leaders to on how best to take advantage of the growing scientific infrastructure on the African continent, the existing and yet to be leveraged Afro-global scientific collaborations to strengthen the African R&D ecosystem.
